Mommy Episodes-Tales of the Inner Freaky Nature of a First Time Momma

Yes I have officially become a Mommy Freak. I am over obsessively thinking about the baby, planning out everything from cloth diapering to how we are going to sleep when the baby comes. Quite possibly the fact that I have a little person kicking me on a constant basis is what is keeping me crazed but I cannot stop obsessing.

Obsession #1-Cloth Diapering

We decided very early in my pregnancy that we would cloth diaper. We are not total hippies, but we are well informed about the amount of space disposable diapers take up in landfills, not to mention the cost of the diapers over a two year period. We decided that it was best for us to cloth diaper, both environmentally and financially. We did however decide for traveling and such that we would use disposables. The world of cloth diapering has changed dramatically since I was a child and a lot of the better diapers are pretty spendy. Most of the diapers we purchased are anywhere from $10-$19 a piece. I have studied folding cloth diapers, the best way to put on a pocket diaper, a Snappi(cloth diaper fastener) and how to wash all of these properly. I am slowly becoming a cloth diaper expert....which is kind of neat. I really like the areas of my life where my beliefs and actions are reconciled and I able to walk it out. I wish I could say that about my love/hate relationship with fast food.

Obsession #2-Clothes for the baby

I have washed, folded, and organized every article of clothing we have purchased for the baby. I keep checking to make sure we have enough of everything. Even though I have checked at least 10 times and have started a baby inventory, I still check.

Anyways those are just two of the things I have been obsessing about. Stay tuned for more Mommy Episodes!

Baby Names

We decided in December our baby names would be Cathryn Hazel or Ezra Carter. Now, three months later we still love Ezra for a boy, but the girl name I just cannot get behind anymore. I realized that if we have a Cathryn Salisbury, she will sound very old. Carter LOVES the name Emily, but I cannot get behind it because I have a cousin named Emily. Lately the name I have loved is Lucy. I love LOVE LOVE the name Lucy. In my opinion it is somewhat unique because not very many people use it and I think it would be a good fit for a girl. Lucy Hazel Salisbury. OK so I am not so crazy about the Hazel. Lucy Jane Salisbury. I think that works. I imagine I could be making a fuss for no reason because we could have a boy, but for some reason I cannot get Lucy out of my head. I just feel like if it is a girl it is going to be a Lucy.

For some reason I just think Lucy fits. Perhaps it is just the hormones and I am a complete freak. That quite possibly could be it.

Who knows? Maybe both names will change once we see them and they come out.
